SHOWBIZ KIDS DANCE SCHOOL

About Us
Our Story
Founded in 1972 by the late Shirley W. Smith, ShowBiz Kids & Dance Company has proudly served young performers in the Cobb and Paulding County communities for over five decades.
What began in Powder Springs as a small studio with a big heart has grown into a nationally recognized dance company, now located in Hiram, Georgia since 2007.
ShowBiz welcomes dancers from ages 2 to 18, with many students beginning their journey as toddlers and continuing through high school. Several alumni have even returned to teach, continuing the legacy of excellence and mentorship that Ms. Shirley inspired from the very beginning.
Our curriculum is grounded in strong technical fundamentals and includes training in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, tap, and musical theatre. More than just steps and choreography, our instruction focuses on building confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for the performing arts.
As an award-winning company, ShowBiz Kids & Dance Company has earned numerous national titles for its soloists, duets, and group performances. We are proud to offer a nurturing, family-like atmosphere where dancers are challenged, supported, and celebrated. At
ShowBiz, we don’t just train dancers—we shape confident, expressive young people who carry the joy of movement into every stage of life.

In Memory of Our Founder

ShowBiz Kids & Dance Company was founded by Ms. Shirley W. Smith, a passionate and gifted artist who dedicated more than 38 years to guiding and uplifting children through dance and theater arts. She studied dance, voice, acting, and modeling from an early age and expanded her training internationally, visiting over 20 countries and working with talent from around the world. Ms. Shirley choreographed performances and taught school while living on a military base in Germany. Her talents earned her recognition both locally and nationally. She was cast in the television special “Happy Birthday Jamie: A True Story”, produced by Jackson Bailey, and served as a soloist for the Atlanta Symphony Guild under the direction of Henry Sopkins. She also competed in the Miss Georgia Preliminary, placing third runner-up with a performance that showcased her vocal, dance, and comedic talents. Above all, Ms. Shirley was known for her deep love of children and her gift for nurturing their confidence and creativity. Her legacy lives on through every dancer who passes through the studio doors.
